Damn.
That’s all I gotsa say.
Not BearPit-related, but in this photo, he took off his shoes! Damn…
I’m no powerlifter by any means, but doesn’t that make it harder on your legs & calves?
Anyway, this post feels kinda empty, so here are some videos of the deliciously husky Jarrod Beekley…
I’m digging the music playing in the background on this video.
Anybody know what it is? Sounds like a video game theme.

No, it’s true…powerlifters say that they take their shoes off on purpose. For some reason, it makes it easier on them. I don’t know how, but he’s not the only one. If you notice, some, not all, weightlifters, when doing deadlifts and similar events, will take their shoes off. I’ve watched many IFSA events and the Olympics, not to mention WSM, and some do that! Don’t know why.
Да уж Читаю и понимаю, что не фига не понимаю о чем речь:)
If you ever look at squat shoes, they have no cushioning at all. Cushioning causes the shoes to wiggle and then you have to work harder to balance.
So taking the shoes off is the easiest way to maintain your
balance, much like a martial artist does.
Great blog, by the way. Glad I read your reply on the real_thick yahoo group!
The reason to take off your shoes deadlifting or to wear thin slippers deadlifting in Powerlifting, is because it decreases the distance you have to lift the bar, which equals more weight pulled or more reps. Try it out sometime.
